NEC Manual

Hi all,

I've been going over some of the posts to this group recently and noticed
that there is talk of hypertexting the NEC manuals. As part of some work
I've been doing at GM R&D, I have scanned and OCR'd the NEC-4 Users Manual.
I then converted it to a Windows Help file. I added links as I though
necessary to the different cards, references and figures (bitmapped). The
biggest problem was with the greek letters which I fudged the best I could.
Anyway, it's done and being used internally by a few here at GM, but I've
resisted putting it out on the network due to several concerns. Namely
the issue that it is the NEC-4 manual and not NEC-2 and the ensuing
copyright/export problems. Perhaps Gerry Burke could clear these issues up
for me, then I'd only have to clear things with my management here at
GM to make it available to all. I suspect that conversion to HTML might
be possible with some automated tools if this is necessary, though I don't
have them. Obviously, there is the chance that even if it is ok'd by the
folks at LLNL that management here might balk at the idea of giving things
away for free, but I thought I'd check things out to save work for lots of
others just in case. Feedback appreciated.
