********************** Final Call for Papers ***************************

NUMELEC'97 follows the first edition hold in Grenoble in 1992.
The aim of this conference is to give to both communities working in the low
and the high frequency fields the possibility to meet during sessions
dedicated to the computation of electromagnetic phenomena. Oral and poster
sessions will be held. Panel discussions will focus attention on shared
subjects. This will allow to point out some headlines which could be useful
for both communities.

Topics of interest to the conference include:

1. General problems
Formulations, choice of gauge, boundary conditions, time-dependent domains.
2. Computation methods
Numerical methods: finite element method, boundary element method,
method of moments, finite difference method, equivalent charge method.
Hybrid methods. Other methods.
3. Methods to solve large systems
Solution of algebraic systems of equations, eigenvalue problems,
parallel and vector computations.
4. Material modeling
Superconducting materials, composite materials, absorbing materials,
anisotropy, hysteresis, permanent magnets, homogenization.
5. Coupled problems
Electromagnetic field problems coupled to thermal problems, mechanical
problems, electric and electronic circuits.
6 Design and optimization
Mesh generation, sensitivity analysis, optimization, inverse problems,
singularities.
7. Applications
Electric machines, induction heating, microwave heating, eddy currents
or microwave non destructive testing, electromagnetic compatibility.

Prospective authors are requested to submit a two-pages paper to
the Conference Secretariat by October 31, 1996.
Extended versions of paper are due at the conference.

Style file for Winword6 (NUMELEC6.DOT) or Winword2 (NUMELEC2.DOT) can be
obtained on the Numelec Web site URL http://www.trotek.ec-lyon.fr/numelec
or via anonymous ftp from the host hpftp.ec-lyon.fr in the directory
/pub/numelec

All submitted papers will be evaluated by peer reviewers to determine
their suitability for publication. Extended papers will be published
in special issues of the Journal de Physique III and Annales des
Telecommunications.

The official language of the conference will be french.
However English-spoken presentations will be welcome.

Registration fees are: before february 15, 1997: 2200 FF (students: 700 FF)
                        after february 15, 1997: 2500 FF (students: 1000 FF)
These fees include a registration package, one copy of the Conference Record,
coffee breaks and lunchs for March 19,20,21, and the Conference banquet.
