         PRELIMINARY ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR PAPERS
---------------------------------------------------------------

The sixteenth ICECOM will be held in the Excelsior Hotel,
Dubrovnik, Croatia, from 15-17 October 1997. The scope of the
conference focuses on advancements and innovations in
electromagnetics and communication technology. Invited are
papers on the conference topics that will foster interactions
among researchers and practitioners in antennas, radiowave
propagation, wireless and optical communications and other
related fields from the university, industry and government
domains.

The topics of interest cover various aspects of the following
suggested areas:

* Antennas: Printed and Conformal antennas; Dielectric
  Resonator Antennas; Active and Integrated Antennas; Smart
  Antennas; Frequency Selective Surfaces
* Radiowave Propagation and Scattering; Propagation Modelling
  for Mobile and Indoor Communications
* Electromagnetic Wave Theory and Computational
  Electromagnetics; Novel Numerical Techniques; Nonlinear
  Electromagnetics
* Remote Sensing and Polarimetry; SAR
* Electromagnetic Compatibility and Interference
* Electromagnetic Measurements
* Microwave Electronics and Optoelectronics: Devices and
  Circuits; Microwave and Optoelectronic Interactions;
  Quasi Optics and Terahertz Techniques
* Communication Systems and Broadcasting: Terrestrial and
  Satellite
* Mobile and Personal Communications; Wireless LAN-s;
  Communications in Automatic Control Systems
* Fiber Optics and Optical Communications
* Industrial and Medical Applications of Microwaves
* Education in Electromagnetics and Communications

Authors are asked to submit four (4) copies of their summaries
(not exceeding 3, but no less than 2 pages) on standard A4 paper
including illustrations (21x29.2 cm or 11"x8.5"). The author's
name, affiliation, full address and telephone/fax numbers and
E-mail address should be given at the first page. Authors of
accepted contributions will be requested to provide a full paper
not exceeding four (4) pages. Papers accepted for presentation
will appear in the proceedings of the conference. All papers and
summaries should be written in english.

Proposals for panel discussion and/or workshops are welcomed and
should be addressed to KoREMA Secretariat.

VENUE: Dubrovnik is situated on the Adriatic coast in southern
Croatia. It has preserved the beauty of a medieval town, and its
outstanding cultural and historical monuments have earned it a
place on UNESCO's World Heritage List. Dubrovnik is a famous
venue of economic and cultural events. It can be reached by
plane, bus, ship or ferry.
