Hi John,

The transmission line configuration that you are looking for
information about sounds very similar to a suspended substrate type of
transmission line. In these types of transmission lines a substrate
with a strip etched onto it is suspended across the side walls of a
waveguide-like structure, for mechanical support, with air above and
below the substrate. A reference for this type of transmission line
is:

Yamashita, Wang, Kazuhiko, and Li, "Effects of Side-Wall Grooves on
Transmission Characteristics of Suspended Striplines", IEEE MTT-33, December
1985.

Bye,
Roland Mueller
