Hi,

I have used most electromagnetic codes (MOM, FDTD and GTD codes). The
one I prefer and find most useful is ESP4 (Electromagnetic Surface
Patch Code Ver 4).

ESP4 employs the method of moments, for the analysis of radiation
patterns and scattering from 3D geometries consisting of an
interconnection of thin wires and perfectly conducting or thin
dielectric polygonal plates. The code is based on the electric field
integral equation and therefor is applicable to modeling both open and
closed surfaces. The program utilizes surface patch modeling, as
opposed to wire grid modeling. It is claimed that surface patch
modeling gives a more accurate representation of currents on the
surface, and requires fewer unknowns per square wavelength than a wire
grid model.

An examination of other electromagnetic codes and ESP4 concluded that
ESP4 was the most efficient for many applications, especially
radiation pattern determination. The ESP4 program is available from
the Ohio State University ElectroScience Laboratory. The distribution
of this code is limited to U.S. government agencies and their
subcontractors. In order to obtain the program, it is necessary to
send a letter to OSU-ESL requesting the code and including proof of
current U.S. government contract. No graphical interface is supplied
with the program but one is available from a third party source
(ram_engineering_at_ieee.org).
