My two cents:

Importing file from mechanical engineering dept. where typically a non
electromagnetic CAD is used (in my company CATIA is used) for
electromagnetic application is a nightmare.

As a matter of fact regularly happens:

1) Find all the files to describe the whole vehicle, usually it is
necessary to gather files from many engineers because there are
persons which works on the various part of the vehicle (exterior
parts, hood, doors, trunks, etc...)

2) Exports all file in IGES

3) Clean and modify the files from: errors from exportation,
non-necessary part (eg. Knobs)

4) Give to some parts special modellization ( to not incur in too
small mesh), imagine for example hinges they are relevant for EM
analysis since constitute the bonding from various part, but their
mechanical drawing gives rise to a too much detailed mesh

5) Put all the files together to build a complete vehicle model ( it
is convenient to paste file which are not meshed to not incur in mesh
discontinuities)

6) Add antennas

7) Mesh

8) Simulate

All the first 7 point requires typically 2-3 weeks of work

Some standardisation program of file will be very welcome
