Hi,

I have found from the study of comparisons of Norton's attenuation
factor over a plane earth with actual measured data, that the "flat
earth" assumption works to a reasonable distance, certainly at low
frequencies.

E.g. 55km at 1161 kHz and maybe a bit more possibly 75km.

There is a good reference on Norton's work and propagation in general
