I'm a newcomer to NEC, so my question may be stupid, but I would appreciate any help.

I'm working with a surface patch model of a fat receiving antenna.
  How
> does NEC know whether adjacent patches should be electrically in
 contact,
> i.e., whether current should flow on the surface across the boundary
> between patches? As I understand it, we specify the location of each
 patch's
> center and its area. So how does NEC tell the difference between a
 collection
> of isolated patches and a continuous surface, or between two surfaces
 with
> a gap between them?
