  One of the best references is:

  R. F. Harrington, TIME HARMONIC ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELDS, McGraw-Hill,
                    NY, USA, 1961.

  (See Ch. 7 - pp. 365-367). Babinet principle is used to determine
  transmission through apertures in conducting surfaces, such as slots
  on the narrow wall of a waveguide - slotted array antenna. Basically
  it is applied to aperture antennas.
