NEC-LIST: About the theory behind NEC-4

Dear nec-4 user.

I read and study nec-4 theory using the book which is

 "NEC-4 Method of Moment Part2:Program Description-Theory"

published by Lawrence Livernore National Laboratory. But now I have
got in trouble.

I can't understand some approximation equation which these are
(B-8)(B-9) in the page 104.

Please teach the way to solve those.
