The discussion of living trees reminds me of an old incident. Many
years ago India was setting up a high voltage labratory. One item was
a one million volt generator with an output on one millampere. Came
time to test it, but where to get a resistor rated at one million
volts and the necessary power. Solution- megger tests showed that a
freshly cut teak log had a resistance of one meg, so it was used, and
worked. Until the test ran too long, the sap boiled and the log
exploded.

Moral- As suggested, try it , it might work.
