NEC-LIST: antenna on infomercial

There has been an antenna infomercial running on TV channels in the US
for a while now. Basically, a piece of plastic with copper etched on
that you can stick behind your cell phone. Claims to reduce static and
improve reception. Can someone share about what that the antenna is
really trying to do and if it works? Just sounds suspicious because
if it really works, why aren't cell phone manufacturers incorporating
it into their phones.
