If you have access to Matlab, it is an excellant tool for plotting patterns
(2-D and 3-D); though pricey for strictly personal use.

I have had great luck using Matlab to create input files and to parse and
plot the outputs.

A welcome addition is "polarhg.m", a thrid party script file that give
greater control over polar plotting. Polarhg.m was written by John L.
Galenski III 11/01/93-04/07/94 and updated by F. Joseph Pompei 6/14/98. I
found it through the Matlab web site.
