Peter,

        You need approximately 600 MB of RAM to run a 5826 segment
problem unless you are using symmetry properly in some way. You then
need to set MAXMAT to at least 5826.

        If you do not have enough memory, you theoretically can run
larger problems using disk space but this is usually not practical and
I have heard several people saying this is not working with GNEC.
When GNEC does do out to disk, even by only one segment, the computer
almost comes to a complete halt and the disk grinds for hours.
