Good day all.

Just for the record, South Africa went metric around the mid 60s as I
recall. The currency was first to go - this happened while I was spending a
year in Antarctica (1962). On my return I recall buying some cheese in Cape
Town (was dying fro some decent cheddar, blue cheese, you name it). When
paying, I had not the faintest idea of the cost. I pulled out a handful of
new and old coins, and told the shopkeeper to help himself.

Best regards,
Duncan Baker.
